EXCITING NEWS !!!

Titulus' FIRST 2009 baby has arrived and it's a GIRL!

The proud owner tells us her beautiful filly was born at 12:50 am Sunday morning on March 15th. The mare had been teasing them for the last week that she wanted to go into labor, everything went very smoothly - her delivery was perfect. They named her Stella! The filly is black with two white hind socks and a star and she looks like such a little girl - longest eyelashes and thick tail. Needless to say, the owner is relieved and happy now Stella has arrived.

Congradulations Staci and Faluka!

.....and now we are going to let Stella's daddy Titulus in on the great news!

Syrius by Titulus out of Slightly Cinnamon xx, a great example of the Trakehner/Thoroughbred cross! His owner/breeder Lori Whitley is very proud of her young colt Syrius which makes us very happy too.

Lori trailered Syrius and his Dam all the way from Oregon to the 2008 American Trakehner Association Annual Meeting in CALIFORNIA last November. What a long trek for such a young foal! Both were presented for the 2008 Mare & Young Horse Show, judged by Hilda Gurney.

Small Biography on Hilda Gurney; Prior to winning her Olympic medal in 1976, Hilda Gurney had finished second in the individual dressage and won a gold medal in the team event at the 1975 Pan-American Games. After graduating from Cal State (Northridge) in 1966, Miss Gurney became a teacher of educationally handicapped children. For those of you here in Quebec, Hilda Gurney was one of the judges at one of our yearly "Concours CDI Dressage International de Blainville".

Hilda Gurney gave Syrius an impressive score of 75.3%, placing him first in the Colts & Geldings of 2008 class. Lori tells us that Hilda really liked Syrius, commenting that he will make for a great future Sport Horse! Yeah Baby! : )

Lori's good fortune did not end there.....

Syrius' Dam Slytely Cinnamon was also entered for judging in the PSB, Anglo-Trakehner, Arab-Trakehner, Thoroughbred and Arabian Mare class.

Slytely Cinnamon (Cinnamon) has an interesting resume; a 1990 Jockey Club Mare, approved Holsteiner as well as Oldenburg/ISR and American Trakehner as well. She is a stakes winning mare off the track and has also been consistently jumped over 4' 3" fences with a rider and has free jumped 4'9" fences. She stands 16.2H and is an excellent producer, throwing nice temperaments and great conformation.

This retired performer and now proven broodmare placed 2nd with a score given by Hilda Gurney of 75.25%! BRAVO!

ATA's Chief Inspector Sam Eidt DVM was appointed to do the evaluations for the Mare Inspection, Lori's mare Persnickety by Feuertanzer scored a very impressive 52 points!

YES, IT IS IRONMAN!!!!

I can still remember the day I read a post in a Warmblood discussion forum announcing "Ironman was now approved Canadian Sport Horse". Since I am a "jumper" girl at heart, I contacted his owner Nancy Maloney to know more about this stallion. I found Nancy to be very nice! I waited with much anticipation for Ironman's video to arrive and when it did, everything was put aside so I could view it. I was not disappointed for a moment.....

I was mesmorized by the the footage of Ironman and his rider Attila jumping their FIRST Grand Prix. What POWER! I later learned that there was a bad thunderstorm that day and the duo were called into the ring ahead of schedule, a good performance was demanded of them SOAKEN WET! I have watched the footage over and over with that in mind.....I am still amazed.

I was SOLD on this stallion and knew one day, I just had to have my very own "Ironman" foal in our barn.

Three years later, Serge and I went down to Wisconsin for a clinic. Since it was only one hour away from Nancy Maloney's farm, I took advantage this great opportunity to go visit her and Ironman. It was going to be the first time meeting Nancy and her stallion in person, I was so EXCITED!

I arrived a little earlier than expected.....

I got out of my car and made my way to the entrance of the barn and NEVER expected what awaited me next. From the entrance, there was no one in sight except for all the way to the far end of the alley way......stood an Angel dressed in white standing on cross chains. It definately seemed that I had all of his attention as I calmly walked towards him, I had no doubt that this had to be Ironman. I stood still before him as he lifted his head up high examining me by looking me up and down. What a character! I could see intelligence and gentleness in his eyes, when I felt that I had his approval, I lifted my hand and his head came down, I figured it was permission to pet him.

Not long after, Nancy arrived and apologized for not being there to greet me. I assured her that my introduction to Ironman could not have been more perfect. It was just that, PERFECT! I have visited a few more times since that memorable day, meeting Ironman's son Ironrule and many other Ironman offspring, confirming my belief that IRONMAN is what we can truly call a "proven" breeding sire.

I enjoyed sharing my story with you and hope one day that you will also give this fabulous stallion a chance to prove to you just how awesome he is!

Ironman has earned a "Coverboy" title MANY times over! He is a star in his own right and for MANY reasons. Contact us to find out why!

Cette année, une heureuse association, enée de main de maître par les Élevages Mallet Barsalou, et secondée par les Écuries d’Automne, accueillit les juges du Oldenburg Verband, mesdames Holly Simenson et Mo Swanson, les 5 et 6 juillet dernier. L’événement s’est déroulé sous forme de mini-tournée, s’arrêtant en 3 endroits différents, pour finalement inspecter et enregistrer un total de 6 poulains, dont un obtint la mention premium (Janosh (Johnson x Donna Magica /Dormello) éleveur et propriétaire, Lidwin Verdier), et inspecter un total de 12 juments, dont une également obtint des pointages faisant d’elle une jument premium Day of Loom (aka Rubina (Royal Olymp/Donnerschlag), propriété de Nadia Bastien).

Tout d’abord, la tournée débuta samedi en après-midi aux Élevages Mallet Barsalou, où Day of Loom aka Rubina (Royal Olymp/Donnerschlag), propriété de Nadia Bastien fut approuvée dans le registre principal des juments (Main Mare Book) avec le titre de jument Premium. Tai Chi MB(Tycoon x Tickling the Ivory xx), élevée et propriété des Élevages Mallet Barsalou; Barina (Graditz/Peron), élévée par Shawnda Nadeau et propriété des Écuries Mallet Barsalou; et Cordova, (Celebes/Calypso I/Laerte), propriété de Elisabeth McGregor (Ont), et poulinière pour les Écuries d’Automne, furent toutes acceptées dans le registre principal des juments. En début de soirée, les juges se déplacèrent chez Mme Verdier, pour y inspecter trois juments de plus : Ferrari (Freestyle x Onedin/Indorado) propriété de Lidwin Verdier, Marlina (Colombus/Le Santo/Lord) et Winrianna (Winterprinz/Cicero), toutes deux propriété de Véronique Picard. Finalement, tel que précédemment mentionné, le superbe poulain premium Janosh (Johnson x Donna Magica /Dormello) dont l’éleveure et propriétaire est également Lidwin Verdier fut enregistré après inspection. Toutes les juments présentées furent également acceptées dans le registre principal. Félicitations!

Tôt le lendemain matin, toute la troupe se transportait aux Écuries Rappenhof, qui a généreusement offert d’héberger l’inspection du dimanche. Encore mille fois merci à Mme Kempter, tout était tout simplement impeccable, comme à l’habitude! Y furent évaluées Weltina (Wolkenstein II/Matcho) propriété de Dave Thind, et sa pouliche, Galadriel (par Guy Laroche), également propriété de Dave Thind; Franscheska (Flower King x Milou en Mai/Landslide), éleveure Sylvie Saucier/Ferme le sabot vert, propriété de la Fondation RJB; Maska (par Platinum vom Rappenhof), propriété de Nancy Demers; Serenity (par Espiritu) et sa pouliche par Sagnol, propriété d’Emilie Setlakwe; Helena RH (Biotop/Hand in Glove xx/Matador) et son poulain Hadrian vom Rappenhof (par Guy Laroche); pour enfin clore avec Hunyk (pouliche par Huno x Pippa/Lestroy), dont les éleveurs et propriétaires sont Lyne Joly et Darren Babin. Presque toutes les juments ont accédé au registre principal, et celles qui n’y ont pas été acceptées ne remplissaient simplement pas tous les critères de pedigree, mais elles ont toutes obtenu des pointages suffisants. Encore là bravo!

We are presently working on our long awaited website updates!

It certainly has been a long time since we've added new info on our website other than on our News page.

New stallions will be added to our Stallion page. Titulus' performance page will have his up to date show record, his foal page will have pics of his N.A. kids and his photo album will maybe have some new additions there too. On our mare page, we will be adding our very own Tai Chi MB to it and Barina's page will be revamped too. Ivoire will always be cherished even though she now has a new home. Last but not least, our BREEDING page will be updated also!

I hope you all have enjoyed an exciting show season!

Bond for sale

Bond is back "under saddle" and doing well! He is worked 3 times a week and shows progress each time. What a fabulous temperament on this stallion!

Yes, Bond is for sale!

In the meantime, we shall continue on with his training in preparation for his performance requirements. Bond's first breeding season begins in the spring of 2009. We will be offering a special Introductory Stallion breeding fee. Stay tuned!

TITULUS' show results at a new level!

Titulus never ceases to amaze us! Our boy honors us again! Titulus was back competing at Lamplight but this time at Level 5 (4'0 ft) for the first time, placing 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 4th and was awarded RESERVE CHAMPION!!! Titulus has made the jump from Level 3 (3'6) to Level 5 (4'0) successfully! Another terrific beginning....

His trainer Nancy Maloney tells us: "Titulus has only been schooled a few times at 4ft, showing it was time to move up and this week he proved it! Titulus placed third in his first class because of one rail in the jump off which is pretty good considering it's his first time competing at Level 5. In his second class of the day, it was tough because both his classes today were back to back. Titulus came in first and was the ONLY horse to FINISH the class! Very good!

The next day, he was terrific placing 4th then 3rd and again in back to back classes. Two double clear rounds earning him RESERVE CHAMPION OF HIS DIVISION! Not bad for a start at Level 5."

Serge and I are always pleased because there is no doubt Titulus is always giving his best out there for Attila. We are always grateful to Nancy and Attila for all their hard work!

Bond James Bond MB was also approved at the Durham, Maine, inspection August 2nd 2008. He is the first son of the Grand Prix stallion Oskar II, a Russian import via Denmark, and more or less a 3/4 brother to the late Dr. Klimke's exceptional international dressage stallion EH Biotop. The combination of heavy doses of Arabian and English TB on the basis of a Trakehner mare family is a common breeding principle in Russia and has resulted in that particular stud book representing Trakehners at the Olympic level in all three disciplines - more than can be said of any other Trakehner stud book in the world. Hockey alone had over 40 international competitors among his get, up to the Olympics, and is represented by the young Trakehner stallions Prints Finest and Lowelas in Europe and now Bond James Bond MB in North America.

Dam Barina by Graditz *E* is one of the very few descendants of the great dressage stallion Peron TSF worldwide - Peron won Team Bronze at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and comes from the very same dam line as another highly successful (and sadly deceased) dressage stallions: EH Partout, who was the most substantial of all approved Arogno sons and put the line on a new level through his sons EH Monteverdi TSF - Oliver Twist - Grand Passion, champion in Neumünster 2007.

Seems like we've waited a long time for Bond to grow up and develop into the stallion we thought him to be from the very beginning....

Finally the day came to load him into the trailer for the long haul to the American Trakehner Association Stallion Inspection in Maine, USA. I could not accompany Serge to the inspection site but instead two of our young friends (Jess and her man Nick!) went along to help out. Jess was responsible for making Bond look spiffy in his tux for the judges and Nick was in charge for filming

the important event.

We were lucky to meet Bruce Griffin, a well known professional handler/trainer at the site. Thanks to Zenda Farrel, we were given an opportunity to hire Bruce Griffin's (and his wife/partner) services for the triangle phase and Serge presented Bond for the hard surface/free jump phase. It should be mentioned that Bruce and his wife volunteered to help out Serge during the free jump phase......VERY nice of them to do so.

In the end, the help we received from Jess, Nick, Bruce and his wife proved to be invaluable!

We are proud to announce BOND JAMES BOND MB by Oskar II out of our mare Barina by Graditz *E* (Peron *Pg*) APPROVED by the American Trakehner Association!!! He now has his 007 Breeding license! YAHOO!!!

This has certainly been an eventful breeding season for us AND for Titanium`s owner!

Titulus`son Titanium received a PREMIUM at his Oldenburg N.A. inspection in Blainville, Quebec! Topping this wonderful gift, he also finished as CHAMPION foal among a large group!!! I couldn`t attend because I had to work but saw it all on video. Titanium presented himself well in front of the judge, showing 3 good gaits, posing all on his own (showoff!) to the onlookers and even going to greet them as if to `high five`them. lol! What a character!

Picture this...I`m watching the part in the film where they ask all the foals back in the ring. The ribbons are given out, Premiums given, comments about each foal, they are eliminated one by one and at the far end of the ring....you can see Titanium telling his owner that he has had enough and wants to go home `come on come on lets go now, I`ve done my job!`. The owner approaches the judge with Titanium and everyone realizes that she has NO IDEA why she is last in the ring. Her face starts to change when she see`s the judge reach for the BIG Champion ribbon....She holds Titanium as the judge turns to tell the crowd about Titanium "beautiful head, cannot doubt he is a colt, looks masculine with great type, moves like a jumper, true to his jumper line, excellent conformation....", and he is awarded Champion, applauses, owner takes the ribbon then gets a picture taken by the photographer. Titanium grabs part of the ribbon in his mouth, owner takes the ribbon from him. Then you see the owner leave the ring, she hands Titanium to a friend, looks at her ribbon and starts to cry!!! She seemed so overwhelmed that it was hard not to get choked up watching! (like i am right now) Every stallion owner can attest to this....THE REACTION OF THE MARE OWNER IS WHAT MAKES ALL THIS WORTHWHILE!!!

Not necessarily the awards (that`s the cherry on top) BUT the happiness that your stallion`s offspring bring to the breeders lives....Amen!

En cette journée d'inspection pour le Oldenburg NA, je vivais un moment destress incroyable car je voulais que tout se passe bien. Je regardais derrière moi tout le temps consacré pour
cette journée, tous les efforts octroyés pourque Titanium soit présenté à son meilleur. Lorsque se fut mon tour! Lorsque j'ai entendu qu'il fallait que je me présente! Mon coeur a commencer a battre mille tours minutes et j'en oubliais même derespirer, je me dirigeais vers le grand manège d'inspection avec un Titanium calme, curieux de ce qui se passait autour de lui et il devait sûrement se demander pourquoi sa propriétaire était si stressée.

Nous pénétrons finalement dans le grand manège suivit de maman, car Titanium aime
qu'on le regarde, il marchait avec tant de fièrté et d'un pas assuré. Je me disais respire Estelle, respire! Bon Dieu...tout va bien aller......je positionne Titanium devant le juge et après une inspection de sa conformation, le juge me demande de le laissé aller.

Je m'exécute sur le champs et là! Titanium dresse sa queue et part faire sa présentation
devant tout l'auditoire...il se met au petit galop, trot, petit galop, changement de pieds a
la volé avec des arrêts au carré en regardant la foule tout cela ne dura que quelques minutes......mon coeur cessait de battre devant cette prestation digne d'un champion.

Maintenant, je ne pouvais pas savoir ce qui nous attendais jusqu'à ce que le juge nous
dises qu'on est Premium candidate!.....une joie intense m'envahie qui m'a fait pleurer car trop d'émotions intenses....c'est tout ce que je demandais, d'être au moins Premium!

Lorsque nous sommes retournés au manège pour la finale, à savoir qui sera le champion de la journée, jamais au jamais j'aurais cru que les champions furent NOUS!!! OUI TITANIUM fut le CHAMPION!!!!! TITANIUM a terminé avec les plus hauts pointages.

En regardant son papa Titulus et sa maman Santa Ana, by Santar, ils ne pouvaient pas faire autrement que de donner un champion!

We've received word from the NEW owners of MB's homebred horses!!!

Star Trek's training is coming along very well, his owner says he is kind, willing and really likes to work! She writes to tell us how much she LOVES him! I was told "a photo can say a million words...", look above and tell me you don't agree! : )

Rain MB is doing absolutely fabulous in the dressage ring at Training Level. Jessica Regimbald and Rain made their debut in the dressage ring this year at the Blainville International Dressage show at Training Level! Their very FIRST class together placing 3rd with a score of 60.435%!!! Rain is ONLY 4 YEARS OLD!!! We are so PROUD of this wonderful team!

I was lucky enough to attend Beaulieu's Dressage Classic to watch Jess and Rain's first day at their second show. This wonderful team's hard work has paid off! It brought tears to my eyes (and Jess' too) when a judge rewarded their performance with a score of 65.600% placing Jess & Rain THIRD out of 15 Amateurs AND FOURTH of 19 participants OVERALL!! YAY!

Rain's new family is absolutely in LOVE with her and I don't think we could ask any more....it couldn't make us any happier than we already are!

TITULUS approved Oldenburg N.A./ISR!

HI everyone!
This is going to be hopefully the last stallion inspection Titulus is going to attend for a long time!We are pleased to announce that Titulus has passed his Oldenburg NA/ISR stallion inspection with flying colors!
Titulus was presented all polished up in a black tux (just kidding!) and behaved well for the judges. A good impression was made!
Titulus was approved receiving a PREMIUM/Star award score of 225.50 AND CHAMPION at his inspection site!!!
He was free jumped over 4'9 fences showing a very bold approach and finishing each time with a calm manner. Actually I'm told he always ended up trotting to the spectators to say "hi! what's going on over here?". The higher the jumps, the more power Titulus demonstrated for the judges.
In the "under saddle" phase, Titulus was a perfect gentleman giving everything asked of him.
Excellent comments were given about his natural abilities, Titulus was found to be a rarity for his breed, demonstrating what they felt was as if watching a Holsteiner jump! Quite impressive!Folks, owning a stallion requires a great deal of hard work (training, showing and breeding). Serge and I work incredibly hard so we can afford to "do the right thing" by Titulus BUT it also takes a great team to make it work not to mention a little support too is always helpful.
I'd like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for the tremendous support many of you have given us from the beginning. I'm talking about from friends, fellow SO, MO and YES, YOU all who have offered kinds words on the forums! Thank YOU for believing in Titulus!
All of it makes this worthwhile....A special thank you to Titulus' trainer and rider, Nancy Maloney and Attila Lempberger.....GO TEAM TITULUS!!!!

TITULUS APPROVED BELGIAN WARMBLOOD (BWP)!!!

Titulus was presented at the Belgian Warmblood (BWP) inspection yesterday (Monday, August 11, 2008) in Hartford Wisconsin, the judges from Belgium LOVED him!!! He is now approved BWP!

Titulus was well behaved in the triangle phase, showing 3 good gaits.

He received very good scores for his jumping. He free jumped up to 4'3 with a 4ft spread quite gracefully. It was offered to continue raising the height and width but the judges declined stating there was no need to, their remarks were; Careful jumper, good overview, nice bascule and nice lift of front end!

Then Titulus was shown under saddle and jumped 4 ft fences, the judges were very enthralled by this wonderful Trakehner JUMPER!

Overall a GREAT day for all of us here!

Introducing a Titulus son named Iskander, named after Alexander the Great. Nicole Willicombe (and her other half Howie) are the proud owners of an absolutely adorable gelding affectionately called "Baby". Nicole frequently writes to us from Germany about Baby's adventures and progress while Howie takes beautiful pictures to add images to their stories. Serge and I can attest to Baby's wonderful character since having had the pleasure of meeting him in person last Autumn. He is so sweet, curious and playful, not to mention lovely to look at with that athletic build. It is touching to watch Nicole with Baby, their affection for each other is obviously mutual. It brings us great pleasure.

Nicole and Howie will be joining us here in Canada in less than a month for a visit. We will be visiting Baby's half siblings here in Quebec and their owners are equally eager to meet Nicole and Howie to exchange stories! What an opportunity!

A little news from Germany of Titulus' kids...

KORSA, a beautiful Black filly by Titulus is now in training under saddle. Her owner writes, "Korsa is really nice. She likes to be with people and is very curious. She is quick in learning and her rider is pleased and loves her."!

I can't tell you how pleased we are to how well Titulus' first foal crop is doing under saddle and their owners are happy with them.

Je voudrais vous présenter le dernier nouveau né de la famille Barsalou/Unger!

La soeur de Serge, Sophie a donné naissance à un magnifique garçon nommé Lukas. Né le 4 mars 2008 à 23h22 au centre hospitalier Pierre Boucher de Longueuil; il pèse 7 livres et 7 onces et mesure 22 pouces. La mère et l'enfant vont très bien....ainsi que le père. Encore une fois, félicitations à toute la famille! Julianne a accueilli son petit frère avec un grand bonheur.

Serge`s little sister Sophie has just given birth to a beautiful baby boy named Lukas. Born at the Pierre Boucher Hospital in Longueuil Quebec, March 4th at 11:22pm, weighing in at 7lbs 7 ounces/measuring 22 inches. Lukas` mom is doing very well.......and so is dad! Once again, congradulations to all members of the family! Their daughter Julianne happily welcomes her newly born little brother to the family....

L’ÉLEVAGE AU QUÉBEC
UNE ÉVOLUTION ÉNORME!

L’élevage des chevaux de sport au Québec a pris une tangente très

intéressante ces dernières années En effet, on peut observer une

grande amélioration dans la production au Québec et l’avenir est

des plus prometteurs!

Il y a quelques années, on faisait naître des sujets issus en grande
partie de juments pur-sang croisées avec des étalons Warmblood

locaux. La qualité des éleveurs n’était alors pas ce qu’elle est

aujourd’hui; en fait, il n’y avait presque pas d’éleveurs dignes de

ce nom. Ils s’approvisionnaient surtout d’étalons

d’Amérique du Nord et ceux qui s’improvisaient éleveurs les
croisaient avec des juments de moindre qualité. Cependant, le

Québec comptait quelques éleveurs de qualité, comme Connie

Kempter des écuries Rappenhof, qui ont beaucoup apporté à

l’élevage par leurs connaissances et la qualité de leur
élevage de chevaux Trakehner depuis 1986, plusieurs montures

issues de leur élevage ont performé dans toutes les disciplines,

et ce dans plusieurs concours à travers le Canada et les États-Unis.

Entre autres, Jennie vom Rappenhof (mieux connue sous le nom de Magdelena),

une jument Trakehner issue de l’étalon Prince of Prussia, a

remporté le prix de Champion réserve en 1998 au concours de
dressage de Devon (Finale E-U). Elle s’entraîne maintenant

avec le champion olympique Joe Fargis. En dressage, on a pu

observer les performances de plusieurs de leurs chevaux,

notamment Mon Ami vom Rappenhof qui s’est distingué
en Prix St-Georges en Californie.

Depuis les dernières années, les éleveurs ont commencé à

s’approvisionner en semences congelées du côté de l’Europe.

Certains des pays européens, comme l’Allemagne, sont devenus

spécialistes en élevage de certaines races, comme le Trakehner,

dont les lignées remontent à plus de 250 ans. Plusieurs des chevaux

issus de ces lignées sont devenus des champions olympiques;

le savoir et les connaissances entourant ces races sont immenses.
Malheureusement, le résultat n’est pas toujours ce qu’on aurait

souhaité. En effet, les chances de fécondation avec des semences

congelées sont d’environ 30%. Aussi, de plus en plus, les éleveurs

québécois vont du côté des éleveurs européens et rapportent ici

un savoir-faire et une expertise e élevage qui ne peut être que

bénéfique à l’industrie québécoise. Ainsi, plusieurs d’entre eux
sont également allés chercher des étalons européens pur les

rapporterici dans le but de produire des chevaux de qualité.

Patricia Mallet,des élevages Mallet Barsalou, se spécialise

dans l’élevage deschevaux Trakehner et Oldenburg. Selon elle,

l’élevage au Québecs’améliore constamment depuis les dernières

années. Elle estheureuse de constater que les gens sont de plus

en plus informéset que le prix n‘est plus le seul critère quand

vient le temps d’acquérir une nouvelle monture. « Les gens

veulent en savoir plussur les origines du cheval qu’ils souhaitent

acheter. Ils sont de plus en plus informés et demandent des

chevaux avec des papiers. » Elle et son mari, Serge Barsalou,

se font un devoir de transmettre le savoir qu’ils ont acquis à

travers les années et qu’ils continuent d’accumuler. Ensemble,

ils ont choisi d’investir dans un jeune étalonTrakehner Titulus

qu’ils ont importé d’Allemagne. Là-bas, il a passé une batterie

de tests et d’épreuves avant de recevoir sa certification.
« C’est certain que c’est un énorme investissement, mais ça en vaut

la peine, une fois le long processus complété, on revient au Canada

avec et on participe à l’élevage de chevaux de qualité pour les athlètes. »

Certains éleveurs, comme Patricia Mallet et Serge Barsalou,

ont préféré faire approuver leur reproducteur dans son pays d’origine.

D’autres en achètent un de deux ans et moins, le ramènent ici et

le fontapprouver auprès d’associations nord-américaines.

Dans les deux cas, il faut s’armer de patience et s’attende à devoir

investir temps et argent. À entendre Patricia Mallet parler

de son étalon avec tant d’enthousiasme, le jeu en vaut la chandelle!

Bea Jarzynska Zimmer, de la Ferme Beaulieu, souligne quant à elle
l’importance de la jument dans la reproduction. En effet,

le patrimoine génétique d’un poulain est constitué pour moitié

des gènes de son père et pour l’autre moitié de ceux de sa mère.

L’influence de la mère est toutefois plus grande que celle du

père, mais cela n’a rien à voir avecla génétique. « C’est ce

que l’on appelle dans notre jargon les« effets maternels »,

explique Bertrand Langlois, généticien à l’INRA.

Contrairement à d’autres herbivores, le fœtus se développe en

utilisanttoute la place dont il dispose. L’effet maternel est

ainsi très significatif sur la taille. Il devient donc très important

d’investir dans unefemelle de qualité. Bien entendu, l’étalon

demeure un élément clé de la reproduction. Il faut cependant

s’assurer que les lignées del’étalon et de la jument s’accordent.

Madame Zimmer suggère d’observer les résultats dans le

sport international, qui donnent souvent des indices précieux.

Par exemple, en regardant les résultats, on sait que

Quidam de Revel, un selle français, a produit à son meilleur

en saut d’obstacles avec des juments allemandes ou

demi-sang hollandais. Par rapport à l’évolution de l’élevage au Québec,

elle abonde dans le même sens que Patricia Mallet : « Les gens

ont compris que les lignées bien croisées sont très importantes. Quand

on investit dans un jeune cheval, le taux de réussite est beaucoup

plus élevé. » Ensemble, les éleveurs québécois et les associations

participent à l’amélioration de l’élevage de chevaux de sport au Québec.

Récemment, lors de l’approbation organisée par l’Association

américaine des Holsteiner, plusieurs sujets élevés au Québec et/ou

issus de l’élevage québécois se sont distingués : l’étalon Bratt Z a

obtenu l’approbation finale, l’étalon Calentino a franchi l’étape

préliminaire, Turielle (petite-fille de Landslide du Haras de Beaupré),
propriété d’Audrey Julie Dallaire a été reconnue conforme à la race.

Les juments Charity (propriété de Mélissa Lamontagne) et Tsigane

(propriété de Canada Ltd) ont reçu l’approbation finale. L’inspection

des Oldenburg qui s’est tenu également au Québec laisse présager

un bel avenir! Royal Ruby (Royal Senna/Abaret) âgé de trois ans,

propriété de madame Mike Jaeger a reçu sa licence de bridage.

Deux juments Frau Krista (propriété de Sandra Laprise) et Canadian

Myth (propriété de Joane Fortin) ont obtenu le titre de

Premium Mare. Le poulain Alejandro FMB de la ferme Mélanie

Boucher a été couronné du titre de Champion Canadien!

Les cavaliers qui sont notre relève de demain, commencent

également à se distinguer en compétition avec des montures

élevées au Québec : en 2002, Diva D’Aubrac issue des Écuries

d’Aubrac a remporté le titre de championne en chasse et la

Classique de chasse aux Jeux Équestres du Québec.

Apéro d’Aubrac s’est également distingué aux Jeux

équestres du Québec et en 2005 en dressage. Avec

sa nouvelle propriétaire, il se dirige vers une

carrière en dressage.

Il reste toutefois place à amélioration. En effet, Connie Kempter
croit que les éleveurs québécois doivent unir leurs efforts afin

de se faire connaître à travers le monde. Il demeure difficile au

Canada de suivre la trace des chevaux issus de l’élevage

puisqu’ils peuventchanger souvent de nom et de propriétaire.

Il n’existe encore malheureusement pas de registre centralisé

qui permet de garder leur trace. Madame Kempter souligne

qu’en Allemagne, les chevaux ont un numéro dès leur

naissance depuis environ 30 ans, ce qui permet de connaître

toutes les lignées de leur évolution. Canada Hippique

évolue en ce sens afin d’offrir au Canada la même possibilité,

bien que ce projet ne soit encore qu’au stade de la planification.

Patricia Mallet ne s’en cache pas, elle rêve de voir d’ici

quelques années un cheval provenant d’un élevage québécois

s’illustrer aux Jeux olympiques. Elle y croit. Selon elle,

un éleveur doit à la fois informer les gens, transmettre

son savoir et contribuer à la réussite des athlètes et de leur

monture. Pour Bea Zimmer, le mot magique pour quiconque

veut se lancer dans l’élevage est « patience » : « Voir un

poulain naître est un petit miracle en soi, mais de le voir

ensuite concourir et gagneravec un cavalier fait battre le

cœur de n’importe quel éleveur, et cette récompense pousse

à continuer et essayer d’améliorer encore ce qu’on a mis

des années à bâtir ». Oui, l’avenir de l’élevage québécois

est très prometteur!

There have been many inquiries about the first North American born Titulus kids and I've not had the time to update my website just yet! So I've decided to post a few pics here for now...more detailed info will come once posted on our website.

Introducing Titulus first born N.A. son HANDSOME JORDAN, Belgian Warmblood;

Canadian born Jordan was inspected in the United States by the judges from Belgium (Belgian Warmblood Association) and awarded a PREMIUM then branded! The judges were impressed with Jordan's conformation and his developement considering the fact this colt was orphaned at only a few week old.

Il y a multiples demandes au sujet des premiers poulains de Titulus, né en Amérique du nord. Malheureusement, le temps manque pour mettre à jour les dernières informations à ce sujet. Je vous donne ici un avant-goût...plus d'informations détaillées suivront bientôt.

Nous vous présentons le premier né (nord américain) fils de Titulus, Handsome Jordan, Belgian Warmblood Né au Canada, Jordan a subi son inspection aux États Unis par des juges de Belgique (Belgian Warmblood Association). On lui a décerné un PREMIUM et il a été marqué (brand). Les juges ont été impressionnés par la conformation de Jordan ainsi que de son développement prenant en considération que ce poulain est devenu orphelin quelques semaines après sa naissance.

You know how it goes, so much to do and so little time......

I get alot of emails asking for updates about our horses, so here we are;

Star is being ridden by an Amateur (in Dressage) and is doing very very well. He has been free jumped, is quite willing and what a powerful hind end on this boy! Star is a very athletic, versatile horse, he will be 5 this year, presently measuring 16`1 hh, and will make a terrific dressage or Hunter/Jumper horse for an Amateur rider.

Tai Chi turning out to be a real beauty! I will be taking new pics in May/June after the winter coat comes off! Has she ever filled out! Tai Chi was conceived with Frozen Semen and is the only North American born offspring by Tycoon (Donaumonarch/Sir Shostakovich). She has filled out quite nicely and presently measures just under 16`1 hh at 2 1/2! Tai Chi will be started under saddle this year.

Bond James Bond, our sweet SWEET special agent! How we love our Bond! He has been started under saddle with pro rider Lyne Joly and she tells us he is just lovely, easy and smooth to ride! He has to be, he`s JAMES BOND!!! Bond is for sale, a good stallion prospect or can be sold gelded. It is up to you!
We will be giving some additional news after our visit with them......

Barina, our fabulous quality producing broodmare is expecting her first TITULUS baby! It so happens to be OUR first TITULUS too!!! The foal will be offered for sale in-utero! A high performance pedigree to back it up with Rondo (high Level jumper), Peron (Olympic Medalist) and Titulus (performance tested in Germany and approved with numerous reputable Associations, not to mention a great performance career ahead of him!). Vous savez ce que c’est, tellement de choses à faire en si peu de temps…

Je reçois beaucoup de courriels me demandant d’écrire de nouveaux développements à propos de nos chevaux, alors les voilà :

Star Trek est monté par une amateur (en dressage) et se porte très bien. Il a fait un peu de saut en liberté et est très travaillant en plus d’avoir une foulée très puissante! Star est très athlétique et surtout très versatile, il aura 5 ans cette année et mesure présentement 16.1 mains. Il fera un excellent cheval de dressage ou de chasseur/sauteur pour un cavalier amateur.

Tai Chi est entrain de devenir incroyablement belle! Je vais prendre de nouvelles photos en mai/juin après que son poil d’hiver soit complètement tombé! Mon dieu qu’elle a pris du coffre! Tai Chi est la seule jument en Amérique du Nord descendant de Tycoon (Donaumonarch/Sir Shostakovich). Elle a pris du coffre et mesure présentement un peu moins que 16.1 mains et elle n’a que 2½ ans! Tai Chi devrait être débourrée cette année.

Bond James Bond notre agent secret d’amour! Nous l’aimons beaucoup notre Bond! Il a été débourré dernièrement par la cavalière professionnelle Lyne Joly et elle nous a appris qu’il avait un merveilleux tempérament et qu’il était doux en plus d’être facile à monter! Il était mieux, c’est quand même James Bond!!! Bond est à vendre, il serait un excellent prospect d’étalon ou pourrait être vendu en tant que gelding. Tout dépend de vous! VF La Premiere competition de TITULUS!

La première compétition de Titulus!

Un éleveur a déjà dit, dans une entrevue, quelque chose comme « […] c’est très excitant de choisir un étalon pour votre jument, ça vous fait chaud au cœur d’enlacer votre poulain pour la première fois, MAIS il n’y a pas de sentiment plus fort que d’assister à l’entrée de votre propre cheval dans le ring de compétition […] »

Plusieurs d’entres vous êtes certainement déjà passés par là.

Que ce soit un cheval sorti de votre propre élevage, un cheval que vous avez acheté, une jument, un hongre ou un étalon… PEU IMPORTE! Ils font parti intégrante de vous!

Notre chance d’exposer notre fierté…
On dirait que nous avons attendu une éternité avant que ça ne se produise!
La compétition se déroulait trop loin de la maison pour qu’on puisse y assister, mais nos cœurs débattaient toute la journée!
On se demandait s’il allait bien? S’il avait peur? S’il se comportait convenablement? C’était très difficile de ne pas y penser!

Merci à Nancy, son entraîneur, nous avons eu droit à un compte rendu détaillé…

TITULUS a participé à sa toute première compétition!

Nancy et Attila ( le cavalier) ont décidé de le sortir dans les classes de chasseur pour ses débuts, afin de le préparer pour les prochains mois où il débutera sa carrière de sauteur.
Titulus a fait très bonne impression en remportant les classes d’échauffement et, par la suite, en récoltant la première et la deuxième position dans les classes ouvertes de chasseur contre certains vétérans de cette division.

Encore mieux, Titulus a terminé champion! Ce n’était qu’une compétition de pratique et ce résultat exceptionnel est, en quelque sorte, un bonus!

Le point le plus important réside dans le fait qu’il était très « cool » avec le "système PA", la circulation des chevaux, la foule, les réchauffements bondés de cavaliers et toutes les jolies filles (on parle de juments, bien entendu!) l’entourant!

J’en étais presqu’aux larmes en écoutant tous les détails… c’était tellement un soulagement énorme! Il reste encore beaucoup de choses à apprendre, mais c’est tout de même un très bon début.

Est-ce que certains d’entres vous se rappellent comment vous vous sentiez lorsque tout était FINALEMENT terminé?

Et que vous reteniez littéralement votre respiration tout le long?

VF 2008 Premier fils de Titulus T I T A N I U M !

Sur une note plus joyeuse, j’aimerai annoncer l’arrivée du premier poulain de Titulus né en 2008. Il est venu au monde le 1er février 2008 (un verseau!), très tôt ce matin à 00h20.

TITANIUM fils de Titulus par Santa Ana fille de Santar n’a pas mis beacoup de temps avant de se tenir sur ses quatres pattes, et une fois debout il n’a pas cessé de courir pendant une bonne heure!

Pour l’instant, il est de couleur baie (va devenir Bai fonce), possède 4 bas blancs et une étoile sur le front.

Toutes nos félicitations à la propriétaire, Estelle Motta, qui est très ravie et, conséquemment, excessivement fatiguée suite à cet événement éprouvant!

TITULUS' FIRST show!

A breeder once said in an interview something like "..........it is exciting choosing a stallion for your mare, its heart warming hugging your foal for the first time BUT there's no feeling like watching one of your own enter the competition ring..."

Many of you have definately been there.

Whether its your own homebred horse, a horse you bought, a mare, a gelding or a stallion............WHATEVER! They are a part of you!

Our chance to beam with pride....

It seems like we've waited an eternity for it to happen!
The show was too far for us to attend, our hearts pounded all day! Wondering is he ok? Is he scared? Is he behaving? It was so hard not to think about it!

Thanks to Nancy his trainer, we were given a very detailed account......

TITULUS made his show ring debut! Nancy and Attila (rider) decided to show him in the Hunter classes for his first time in the ring as preperation for next month when he starts his jumper career.

Titulus made a great impression, winning the warm up class and then recieving a first and second over fences against a very good class of veteran Hunters in the Open Hunter division. Even better, Titulus ended up Champion! I

t was a practice run and doing so well was a bonus. What was important is that he was COOL with the PA system, the horse traffic, the crowds, the crowded warm up ring and with all the pretty girls (horse girls of course!) surrounding him!

I was almost in tears listening to the details........just pure relief! A lot left to learn of course but a positive beginning.

Can any of you remember what it was like for you when it was FINALLY over? And that you were actually HOLDING your breath the entire time?

2008 First Titulus son T I T A N I U M!

It is with mixed emotions under these circumstances that I wish to announce the arrival of the first 2008 Titulus colt made his debut Feb. 1st (an Aquarian!) at 12:20am!

TITANIUM by Titulus out of Santa Ana by Santar, colt born strong up in no time and stayed up running around for the first hour! For now he is Bay (most likely will turn a dark bay), 4 white socks and a star.

We'd like to wish the owner Estelle Motta a big Congradulations! She is elated and TIRED!!!

English/Francais Heureka ll

I'd like to extend my deepest sympathies to fellow breeder (the LaValley family) Smoky River Trakehners in Alberta, Canada, who have just informed me on the loss of their Trakehner mare.

Her name was Heureka II by Pasteur xx out of Harmonie by Insterfeuer, 23 year old Trakehner mare, awaiting her last foal (which we were all excitingly waiting for), a Titulus baby.

I remember how excited Brandy LaValley was when she informed me that she had acquired an ATA mare named Heureka ll and how she felt this cross would be great! We thought so too, considering, she was most likely the last Pasteur daughter in North America! Well sure enough, Heureka caught on the FIRST try to Titulus! A truly proven broodmare......

I strongly feel that Baby Titulus deserved to be announced (heard) and not passed over.....some foals are meant to be born angels.

I wish Heureka, Baby Titulus and the LaValley family peace in their hearts....God speed baby angel!

C’était une jument Trakehner de 23 ans qui se nommait Heureka II (fille de Pasteur xx) et elle était enceinte de son dernier poulain (que nous attendions tous impatiemment), un bébé de Titulus.

Je sentais que ce bébé de Titulus méritait qu’on parle de lui plutôt que de simplement l’oublier sans même le mentionner… Il semblerait que le destin de certains est de naître sous forme d’ange.

Je souhaite à Heureka, à Bébé Titulus ainsi qu’à la famille LaValley, paix dans vos cœurs.
